Melissa Maimone teaches women that an authentic life in Christ can be messy and magnificent at the exact same time. With her unique blend of theology, humor, and insight, Melissa provides down-to-earth lessons, practical applications, and life-changing perspectives to real women who are living real lives in the midst of real problems.
Using Scripture, art, story-telling, and lessons from her own battle with depression, Melissa demonstrates that the light of JOY can be found even in dark places. She is both a teacher and friend to her audiences; creating a dynamic atmosphere of learning, inspiration, and shared experiences. She encourages women that they can live a bold, messy, magnificent life of vulnerability and victory because they are known, accepted, and deeply loved by God—just as they are. Women leave their time with Melissa equipped with biblical, realistic, and transferrable tools to live a life of JOY, no matter what they face in life.
Melissa is the author of Gathering Dandelions: Meditations and Musings on Faith, Fracture, and Beauty Mistaken for a Weed, a book of short stories, prayers, and reflective questions written in her trademark style of down-to-earth humor, authenticity, and a rich understanding of God's grace.
Melissa has been a featured speaker at various Christian camps, women's events and retreats throughout the United States. She is part of the speaking team for Seasons Weekend, created by author and dramatist Nicole Johnson. Melissa has appeared on TBN and KKLA Christian Radio, and has been published in Welcome Home magazine.
She and her husband Danny live in Southern California with their two children, three cats, one dog, two mice, and a tortoise. She loves Jesus, her family, and her friends. Her hobbies include reading, walking, watching weird documentaries, and eating tacos.
1-4 Sessions (Retreats, luncheons, moms groups, teens &/or adults)
So often, we can struggle with feeling like we are Too Much or Not Enough. Yet, Jesus says "My grace is sufficient." How do we come to understand our own enoughness in Christ? It's a journey of discovering who we are, letting go of who we are not, and discovering God's OVERFLOWING GRACE for every one of us, just as we are. Scripture: 2 Corinthians 12:9
2-4 Sessions (Retreats, conferences, bible studies)
Life is filled with all kinds of adventures. Rough waters, glassy seas, dark skies and dazzling sunrises. But even in the darkest moments--when it feels like we are drowning and might not survive--we can still find the HOPE that is an anchor for our souls. This is a hope that goes beyond circumstance, feeling, behavior, or strength--and one that can carry us through any storm life brings to make us truly unsinkable. Scriptures: Hebrews 6:19, Mark 4:35-41, Matthew 14:22-33
Beautifully Brave Hearts
1-4 Sessions (Retreats, conferences, moms groups)
What is true strength? How do we get it? How do we keep it? Explore what it means to have a "brave heart" and discover the difference between a tough exterior and genuine courage that faces down fear with a beautiful, broken, brave heart. Scripture: Ezekiel 11:19
Motherhood is Messy
1 Session (Moms groups, Bible studies, luncheons)
Any Mom will tell you that Motherhood is not for the faint of heart. Motherhood is incredibly tiring, wonderful, confusing, stressful, joyous, frightening, and ... well ... MESSY. Even if you are not a Mom, all of us can struggle feeling like a bit of a "mess" at times. And yet, Jesus Christ came to get His holy hands dirty--and much like the love of a mother, He isn't going to let the messy parts of His children stand in the way of His love.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Friendships
1 Session (Moms groups, luncheons, teens &/or adults)
Female friendships are sometimes complex and can bring up difficult feelings of vulnerability, need, and confusion. But they can also be a tremendous support and true blessing. As a matter of fact, we were MADE for friendships with women. So, how do we work it out? I want to invite you to receive the recipe straight from God's Word for genuine, delicious, freshly baked chocolate chip cookie friendships! Includes an optional, SUPER fun mixer for the ladies that they will love. 1 Corinthians 12:12-26
My Cup Overflows ... with Tinsel!?
1-2 Sessions (Christmas events, teas, outreach, moms groups)
Christmas is a fantastic time to gather friends, decorate our homes, bake, wrap...and generally get overwhelmed by all there is to do. It sounds great to think through ways to "simplify" or "enjoy" or remember the "reason for the season," but there are still presents to wrap, parties to attend, and family to visit. How do we experience the abundance of God in the abundance of errands? With humor and realistic wisdom, I invite women to find "peace on earth" right in the middle of shopping at the mall.
"I have known Melissa Maimone for over a decade now and I feel privileged at any opportunity to hear her speak or teach. Melissa is delightfully funny, winsome and a biblically sound communicator. She is the rare speaker who can educate while entertaining. Melissa has allowed her struggles to plow the terrain of her own heart, making it soft enough to bring genuine comfort to the hearts of those fortunate enough to hear her. She unites women with laughter, shares the right amount of herself and hangs around long enough to wipe away the tears. She's the real deal." ~ Nicole Johnson, author, dramatist, Women of Faith speaker
"I loved how Melissa was talking with us. She made us feel like we knew her already. Very personable." ~ Shirley Mendenhall, Yorba Linda, CA
