Melissa Maimone brings encouragement to her audiences with a blend of insight, transparency, and theology. Affected by depression and anxiety from a young age, she shares with vulnerability (and plenty of humor!) that a hopeful, joyous life is possible no matter what your circumstance.
Affected by depression and anxiety, Melissa shares that a hopeful, joyous life is possible in every circumstance. She uses transparency, humor and she doesn't give "pat answers" to deep questions. She teaches women that, like the sparrow, God views them with grace and gentleness--even when they are at their weakest.
Melissa is more than a Christian speaker; she is a communicator at heart. Whether through writing, speaking, production, acting, or jewelry design, her desire is to encourage those who feel like they are not enough. . .or too much. While her talents and experiences are incredibly diverse, her message of hope, grace, and God's amazing love remains consistent.
Melissa has been a featured speaker at various women's events and retreats throughout Southern California and the United States. She holds a BA in business and has a background in communication, theater, and writing. She served as the Director of Women's Ministry for over 13 years at NorthPark Community Church and has extensive experience in ministering to women. Melissa has extensive experience in graphic design, production, and event planning.
Melissa is part of Seasons Weekend, an artistic spiritual retreat for thirsty souls everywhere. She is part of a team featuring author/dramatist Nicole Johnson (of Women of Faith), author Dr. Curt Thompson, inspiring couple Jay & Katherine Wolf, musician Noah Needleman, and more. Special musical guests to Seasons Weekend have included Nichole Nordeman, Sara Groves, and Jason Gray.
Though she grew up in a somewhat idyllic household with a Catholic background, it wasn't until she reached some of the lowest, darkest times in her life that the transformational love of God changed her life forever. Melissa has a passion for being real with others and being real with God. (Mostly because she got so tired of faking it!)
Melissa designs and creates jewelry that reflect her message of hope for even the smallest of sparrows. Melissa says, "I want my jewelry line to provide women with encouragement they can wear, so that when my speaking time with them is over and the event comes to a close, they are reminded tangibly of the truth of who they are.
1-4 Sessions (Retreats, luncheons, moms groups, teens &/or adults)
So often, we can struggle with feeling like we are Too Much or Not Enough. Yet, Jesus says "My grace is sufficient." How do we come to understand our own enoughness in Christ? It's a journey of discovering who we are, letting go of who we are not, and discovering God's OVERFLOWING GRACE for every one of us, just as we are.
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 12:9
2-4 Sessions (Retreats, conferences, bible studies)
Life is filled with all kinds of adventures. Rough waters, glassy seas, dark skies and dazzling sunrises. But even in the darkest moments--when it feels like we are drowning and might not survive--we can still find the HOPE that is an anchor for our souls. This is a hope that goes beyond circumstance, feeling, behavior, or strength--and one that can carry us through any storm life brings to make us truly unsinkable.
Scriptures: Hebrews 6:19, Mark 4:35-41, Matthew 14:22-33
Beautifully Brave Hearts
1-4 Sessions (Retreats, conferences, moms groups)
What is true strength? How do we get it? How do we keep it? Explore what it means to have a "brave heart" and discover the difference between a tough exterior and genuine courage that faces down fear with a beautiful, broken, brave heart.
Scripture: Ezekiel 11:19
Free to FLY
1-2 Sessions (Retreats, luncheons, outreach)
If we were made for FREEDOM, why do we get so trapped by circumstances, emotions, and futility? How do we experience freedom when the laundry is not done, I've gained 10 pounds, and have nothing to wear! Together, let's take a realistic look at the ability of God to release us from the cages of fear, resentment, and thoughts that lock up our hearts.
My Cup Overflows...with Tinsel!?
1-2 Sessions (Christmas events, teas, outreach, moms groups)
Christmas is a fantastic time to gather friends, decorate our homes, bake, wrap...and generally get overwhelmed by all there is to do. It sounds great to think through ways to "simplify" or "enjoy" or remember the "reason for the season," but there are still presents to wrap, parties to attend, and family to visit. How do we experience the abundance of God in the abundance of errands? With humor and realistic wisdom, I invite women to find "peace on earth" right in the middle of shopping at the mall.
Motherhood is Messy
1 Session (Moms groups, Bible studies, luncheons)
Any Mom will tell you that Motherhood is not for the faint of heart. Motherhood is incredibly tiring, wonderful, confusing, stressful, joyous, frightening, and. . .well. . .MESSY. Even if you are not a Mom, all of us can struggle feeling like a bit of a "mess" at times. And yet, Jesus Christ came to get His holy hands dirty--and much like the love of a mother, He isn't going to let the messy parts of His children stand in the way of His love.

1 Session (Moms groups, luncheons, teens &/or adults)

As a matter of fact, we were MADE for friendships with women. So, how do we work it out? I want to invite you to receive the recipe straight from God's Word for genuine, delicious, freshly baked chocolate chip cookie friendships! Includes an optional, SUPER fun mixer for the ladies that they will love.
1 Corinthians 12:12-26
1-3 Sessions (Retreats, luncheons, teas, teens &/or adults))
"You used to be much more muchier. You've lost your muchness." said the Mad Hatter to Alice. In this world, it is easy to forget who you are, how you are intended to live, and what you are called to do. Like Alice in Wonderland, it's easy to lose our "muchness". In this presentation, I remind women who they are in Christ, and the life they are created to live. A great presentation for teenage girls as well.

Pink is the New Navy!
1-2 Sessions (Conferences, leadership retreats, training)
For women in leadership, it might be tempting to believe that we need to set aside our femininity in order to be strong leaders. After all, "there's no crying in leadership!". . .or is there?
